For this exploration, students will be divided into groups and will read biographies of survivors as well as issues affecting us all in society.
Interaction for this exploration will be viewed through the class Discussion Board.
As the semester progresses groups will identify issues which are paramount to the foundation of the novel each are reading. For example, issues affecting a young woman from war torn Sierra Leone, a young man fleeing a country to steal his way into the United States as an undocumented immigrant, the plight of having a disability, autism, the dread of politics and the control of the economy as seen through Wall Street, and Waiting for Superman to come and rescue us all in the mess education seemingly is in our country.
The exploration will be set up as a presentation to be given in class at the end of the semester. The presentation should include:
