Shandell: I really like your writing style as well by effectively explaining very narratively. You showed examples of a well thought out idea of going from your childhood experience, I find that more interesting in your article.

Kimmy that was a great story!! I remember feeling the same way on my baptism day. It reminded me of my daughter Ashleys first day being a member of our LDS church too. After we got home from the baptism, she yelled at her little brother and said ohhh no mom I'm not clean any more. I thought that was the sweetest thing ever!

Casey, I really enjoyed your story about getting out on your own. I can remember this very well and it makes you feel great to know that you have big responsibility in living on your own. I almost miss the days that I lived with 2 other musicians who really changed my life and my perspectives on life.

Nichole, Your story about the day you got your license was very entertaining. I am so happy for you that you drove home in spite of the notion of your family curse. Ha! You stared into the face of a fear and conquered it. I'll bet that is not the only time you have been so brave!

I want to leave a couple comments. Overall, it was very interesting to read about "Your First Day." In most cases, it seemed that it was a very special and rewarding day. I can't remember my first job but I can remember working during the summers between the year schools at BYU. I remember my baptism and being excited to also walk back to my seat as I watched my grandmother who was newly arrived from England and was being baptized, too. I remember the birth of my 4 children. My oldest turns 40 today! Wow!

Research is essential in verifying the authenticity of a study or argument for plenty of reasons. Do you know every answer to every question on the top of your head? Certainly not! This is why research is so very important to us. Plus, people will not take us seriously if we do not have some way to back up our argument. For example, today I was watching a documentary called, “Forks over Knives” and it was trying to convince us that eating a plant-based diet can reverse and cure diseases and keep you healthy, which I firmly believe in. If they had not done the research and studies I would have not thought the documentary was accurate, and therefore not been convinced.

Kimmy, I liked how you asked if we knew every answer on the top of our heads, also, how you wrote about spreading false information. It truly made me think about all the statistics that are implanted in my head as " fact". This also gave me some great ideas on how to tackle this assignment. thanks

The light in the sky was passed off as a meter. The news did a cover story on the findings of this conclusion and had many witnesses describe what they seen. Is this true, what the news said? Remember all the controversy about landing on the moon. There is research done that would prove that we did not actually land on the moon and that it was created in area 52 to fool the people. There is also the same amount of research done saying that this was a breakthrough in technology and we indeed did go to the moon. Now, when we think about the news and their findings about the "shooting star", how can we verify the authenticity of the findings when we have accounts claiming both sides?

Isaac, I liked how you linked research to showing the persuasive side to a writer. If we want someone to believe in what we are writing about, we must have research for proof of our beliefs. I also liked that you talked about being able to decipher between having our own opinion and believing in the biases of a writer. This shows us the author's side of being persuasive with our own audiences.

Research is essential in verifying the authenticity of a study or argument because anyone can write anything and publish it (free speech in this country). If research is not done to verify the authenticity of a study or argument, a few things can result. One is anyone who reads the material may believe it is true. An example of a site that offers anyone to write for it, update it, and correct it is Wikipedia.com. Also, a writer may be credited for work that is not their own if a study or argument is being written about and there are no sources available. If proper research is not done, or is misinterpreted, the cited works would be misrepresented (intentionally or unintentionally).

My cartoon shows a man face down with a knife in his back and 2 people standing in the room looking down saying “so that’s what all the noise was last night”. This is just another reminder that so many people look the other way when it comes to getting involved and stopping the abuse. If those two people would have called the police and reported odd noise, this person may not be dead today.
