- Bias is not merely supporting only one side of an argument,. Rather, bias is distorting or representing unfairly one or both sides of an argument to the writer's advantage... It may occur because the writer has a personal gain to achieve by winning the argument, or because of unaware prejudice.

Reading Calisthenics
Speed Reading doing it right!
1. I call it “Reading Calisthenics.”
i. Choose a passage to read of about 250-350 words.
ii. Set a timer for one minute.
iii. Read and mark spot when timer goes off.
iv. Set timer again for one minute.
v. Because this is now familiar material, you should have been able to read further. Mark spot when timer goes off.
vi. This time, read the entire passage and time yourself.
vii. Write down the number of words you read + minutes it took to read entire passage.
viii. What did you learn from this activity?
Now,
1. Write your reflection of this activity.
2. Does it pay to read a passage more than once? Why?
